The location

The refurnished farmhouse is nestled in a tranquil setting in the village of Passy, close to the river Yonne in northern Bourgogne France.

Location
La Maison Passy is 150 km drive from Charles du Gaulle airport in Paris.  The beauty about getting to the house is that you drive on large motorways all the way to the city of Sens so the drive takes no more than an hour and fourty minutes. Also, if staying in Paris you can take a high speed train from Paris-Bercy Bourgogne station to Sens in 55 minutes.

La Maison Passy is nestled in the small village of Passy close to the river Yonne in northern Bourgogne France and surrounded by massive farmland.  Passy, which is a home to just over 200 people offers green areas and playgrounds for play.  Passy is  1 ½ km from the village of Vernon (grocery store, bakery, pharmacy, doctors, post office, restaurant etc) and 3 ½ km from Villeneuve-sur-Yonne which lies on the banks of Yonne between the cities of Sens and Joigny.  There you find grocery stores, bakeries, butches, multiple restaurants, a weekly produce market and nice outdoor areas.

Sens is a beautiful city only 10 km from Passy also lies on the banks of Yonne.  There you find large grocery stores and an indoor and outdoor market (open every morning) and a beautiful downtown with restaurants and the oldest Gothic church in France.  Sens, and surrounding villages, also offers multiple Michelin recognized restaurant and Restaurant Madeline which has 1*.
Recommendations
There are multiple outdoor activities possible in and around our house, fishing, kayaking, hiking and the city of Sens has also designed multiple bike routes in the extended area. There are also multiple golfcourses in the area for those interested in golfing. While there is some wine making close to Sens, we most often drive to Chablis (70 km) for wine tasting and buying and for electrical bike tours around the wine acres (highly recommend that).

The  villages of Irancy (red wine), Citry, Beign are worth a visit and no one should miss visiting Les Cave Bailly Lapierre which produces the best cremant in Bourgogne – same, method used as in making champagne but in Bourgogne „Champagne“ is called „Cremant.“  It is also possible to do day tours to the Loire valley for wine tasting, e.g. Sancerre, as well as to visit the famous village of Beaune where the famous Bourgogne red wines, such as pinot noir, are made.

We very much like to visit the city of Dijon as well. You can take the train from Sens to Dijon and be there in less than 2 hours while the drive takes just over 2 hours.

We can help you create an itinerary for your stay and recommend places to visit and restaurants to dine in, depending on your preference.
